To track and field, where Markus Rehm also known as the "Blade Jumper" due to his prosthetic leg, came out on top in the men's long jump under Innsbruck's symbolic Golden Roof on Wednesday.

The German managed to jump 8.18 meters to finish above South Africa's Rushwal Samaai who recorded an effort of 7.95.

Rehm also notched 8.40 meters in the IPC Athletics world championships last year which is just 1 centimeter shorter than the winning record at the IAAF world championships in Beijing last year.

Right now Rehm is aiming for gold at the Rio Olympics but is still waiting for approval from the IAAF on his status as an athlete.

"My main goal is to qualify for the Olympics and I made the qulaifying distance of 8.15 metres. Now I only need to prove to the IAAF that my prosthetic leg did not help my results in anyway. I did a lot of research in Germany and Japan and next Monday they will provide the latest scientific conclusion, so lets wait and see," said Rehm.

Meanwhile In the women's pole vault, China's Ling Li was first with a clearance of 4.40 metres.

The Asian record holder of 4.70 meter would lock the win with her second attempt of the night. But would give up for her attempt on pushing the height to 4.50. Li will definitely be the one to watch in Rio.
