President Hu meets overseas talents, returned Chinese talents from abroad

BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao extended his greetings Wednesday to overseas Chinese talents and the talents who returned to China after studying abroad.

They were here to watch Thursday's National Day celebrations.

On behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, Hu, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, thanked the talents for their contributions to the glorious achievements in China's socialist construction.

Also present were Premier Wen Jiabao, Vice President Xi Jinping and Vice Premier Li Keqiang.

Hu said he hoped the overseas talents and returned Chinese talents would continue to serve the motherland in various means and make brilliant achievements.

China is still a developing country that faces a long road ahead to achieve great rejuvenation, which needs painstaking efforts from all Chinese people, Hu said.
