World to benefit from co-op between China, U.S.: Official

WASHINGTON, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo said on Wednesday that the world's peace and prosperity would benefit from a positive, cooperative and comprehensive China-U.S. relationship for the 21st century.

During his meeting with Senator John Kerry and Senator Richard Lugar in the Capitol Hill, Washington, Dai said China and the United States share important responsibilities and have common interests for human's peace and development.

"Increased cooperation between China and the United States not only serves the common interests of the two peoples, but contributes to peace, stability and prosperity of the world," he added.

As to the first round of the China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue, which just concluded on Tuesday in Washington, Dai said both sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on the strategic, long-term and overarching issues concerning the development of bilateral relations, and achieved a few important common grounds.
