Shelters provide safe drinking water

Authorities in Yushu county, have implemented measures to ensure people have access to safe drinking water in the quake-hit areas. Water purification systems were set up at temporary shelters on Thursday.

One facility set up at a shelter on a horse race-track, is able to provide safe drinking water for up to 20 thousand people. Officials have also enacted strict testing requirements to ensure safety, and said the water has met quality standards.

Meanwhile, at the largest temple in Yushu, more than 500 monks and another 12 hundred people have been provided with safe drinking water. Purification systems have also been set up on the outskirts of Yushu Prefecture.
