Airports in Poland were closed Friday as the cloud of volcanic ash forced huge patches of European airspace to close.

Officials said funeral ceremonies will start on Saturday as planned, and the funeral will take place in Krakow on Sunday.

Funeral preparations were well underway at Wawel Cathedral in Krakow Friday.

Jacek Sasin, Presidetial Palace spokesperson, said, "It is the will of the family that, under no circumstance, the date of the funeral be changed. The funeral ceremony is scheduled to start tomorrow."
