State Council hold 2nd press conference on Qinghai earthquake

The State Council has held its second press conference to disseminate more information on the 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Qinghai Province. Officials released the latest updates on medical treatment for survivors and find out how authorities are tackling the potential outbreak of epidemic diseases in affected areas.

Officials said the relief work and medical rescue are still very tough.

With the experience in Wenchuan earthquake, health organizations from all over the country has quickly moved to deploy medical help. So far, over 1600 medical staff have set out, with large amount of equipment, medicines and relief goods. More efforts are getting ready.

The official from the Ministry of Health said its relief work is around three elements in face of natural disaster.

Chen Xianyi, Bureau Head of Disease Control & Prevention Bureau, MOH, said, "First of all is the rescue and treatment of the injured. Secondly, to prevent epidemic. The last but not least is psychological care and stablize the society. The Ministry of Health is higly alert and take preventitive measure to prevent the epidemic after the disaster. "

Comparing with the Wenchuan earthquake, the authority explained the difference and difficulties.
