Earthquake death toll rises to 791, nearly 300 missing

More than one thousand critically injured survivors have been transferred out of quake hit Yushu as of Friday morning. The quake relief headquarters has urged to transferred all seriously injured for treatment within 24 hours.

The death toll of Wednesday's powerful earthquake had climbed to 791. More than 11 thousand injured, and nearly 300 missing.

Many people are still buried under the debris of collapsed houses in the hardest-hit Gyegu Town near the epicenter. Rescuers are are racing against time to reach the trapped as the optimum survival time of 72 hours ticks away. More than 600 medical workers nationwide have been arrived in the quake hit area.

As of Friday morning, about 70 countries, international and regional organizations have sent condolences over the quake and expressed willingness to assist China in the relief work.
