Kaczynski's coffin returns home to grief-stricken Poland

Polish President Lech Kaczynski's coffin returned home as tens of thousands of Polish people lined the streets to pay their final respects.

A long journey home and a painful welcome.

Poland's acting President Bronislaw Komorowski, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Kaczynski's daughter Marta and his twin brother Jaroslaw were among those receiving the coffin at Warsaw's military airport.

Tens of thousands of people stood along the 10 kilometer route, taken by the hearse to the presidential palace, where Kaczynski's coffin is expected to lie on public view.

The bodies of other crash victims were sent to Moscow for further identification and will return home in coming days.

In the Russian city of Smolensk, residents visit the crash site, lying flowers and candles to pay their homage.

Russia also held a day of National mourning on Monday.

So far the investigation into the cause of the crash is still underway. People are anxious to know what went wrong when the Tu-154 plane was about to land.
