US President Barack Obama says he expects there'll be sanctions on Iran over its nuclear issue within weeks.

During a joint press conference in Washington with his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy, Obama admitted a consensus has not been reached among major powers. But he said the U.S. is working very hard to bring sanctions into effect.

He added there have been no signs the Iranians are close to moving back from their nuclear program - and patience has all but run out.
