Thousands of "red-shirt" protesters remain camped near Bangkok's Government House, following the government's rejection of their demands in a second round of talks.

The protesters are vowing to continue a further three weeks, demanding that parliament be dissolved in 15 days. Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva had offered to dissolve parliament by the end of the year, but protesters did not accept the compromise. The "Red Shirts" have been holding street demonstrations in the Thai capital for the past two weeks. They are demanding the prime minister carry out a dissolution of parliament so new elections can be held.
