China, South Africa pledge upgraded ties

China and South Africa have stressed joint efforts to cement their strategic partnership.

The pledge was made between China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin and Mnin-wa Mah-langu, chairman of South Africa's National Council of Provinces at Cape Town.

Jia Qinglin said China and South Africa have supported each other on issues of core interests, and coordinated closely on international affairs. Jia said China would like to work with South Africa to deepen cooperation in all fields, and bring bilateral partnership to a new high.

Mahlangu proposed the two countries work closely in trade and investment. He also reaffirmed that South Africa would adhere to the one-China policy.
