More than ten Democratic lawmakers have reported incidents.

The House Majority Leader says the FBI and Capital Police have briefed Democrats on how to handle perceived security threats.

Steny Hoyer, House majority leader, said, "When people start talking in the rhetoric of putting people on firing line, or they put a target on their faces, with cross-hairs, that activity ought to be unacceptable in our democracy."

The political debate concerning the health care bill continues.

The US has held a relentless series of votes as Democrats drive towards the final passage of a second bill. It is designed to supplement the first one, by sweetening benefits for pensioners and low-to-middle income families.

However, Republicans have contested every measure and many pledge to continue fighting the legislation in court.
