German pavilion has "balancity" theme

With the World Expo only thirty eight days away, Germany has announced "balancity" as the theme of its pavilion. The country's organizers say the attraction seeks a balance between urban and nature, as well as history and the future.

It will be the largest German pavilion in the history of the World Expo. The five hundred million Euro project is expected to showcase the country's state of the art innovation.

But it will be more than just a treat for the eye. The commissioner general is confident it will stand out from its neighbors.

Dietmar Schmitz, commissioner general of German pavilion, said, "I think we have balancity which shows a lot of aspects regarding life in a modern city, beginning with high technology up to cultural matters."

Located on the Pudong side, the German pavilion will be receiving an estimated forty five thousand visitors a day. That's about eight million visitors during the entire course of the expo.

The highlight of the German experience will be a huge, interactive metal ball, which uses cheers from the crowds as the power to float in the air.

The German Ambassador says the content of the pavilion is also relevant to urbanization, which is one of China's key issues.

Dr. Michael Schaefer, German ambassador to China, said, "Achieving a balance between the needs of every individual person living in the city and the needs of the whole population. So experiences which we have built over the past thirty years will be quite useful in our exchange and dialogue with our Chinese friends."

During the Shanghai World Expo, May nineteenth will be German Day. The German Federal President is expected to attend celebrations.
