The lingering drought in southwestern China is proving to be the worst in decades. Six percent of the country's territory has been affected, leaving 20 million people without enough drinking water.

In Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, precipitation this month is 7 millimeters, 80 percent less than the same period last year. The drought in the region is the worst in decades.

In this region alone, two million people and hundreds of cattle are without enough drinking water. Agricultural production has almost come to a halt.
