PM: Greece counting on eurozone program

The Greek Prime Minister, says he prefers a European solution to his country's debt problems, although Athens will look for other solutions if necessary.

Speaking on Wednesday, George Papandreou said his nation is counting on an EU or eurozone program to be approved to help his country, but did not rule out other options, including seeking aid from the International Monetary Fund. Greece is hoping EU leaders will approve an aid mechanism for the country at their summit in March.

Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou said, "We have left all options open but again we would expect that the European Union and particularly the eurozone can deal with this capability or this possibility -- which may never occur -- that we do actually need some form of intervention to the markets. But we do expect that the European Union could respond to this and that would be the best option."
