UN to give Chile 10 mln US dollars in emergency aid

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon arrived in Chile to assess the damage from last week's 8.8-magnitude earthquake. In Santiago, Ban Ki-moon announced that the UN will give Chile 10 million US dollars in emergency aid. He also expressed his condolences and support to the quake victims.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said, "I am here to express my solidarity of the United Nations, of the international community to the people and government of Chile who have been victimized by this natural disaster. First let me express my most profound condolences to the people of Chile and family members of this natural disaster."
