Special Report: 8.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Chile |

The UN says the Chilean government has responded well in their coordination of relief operations to an earthquake that has so far killed 795 people.

UN officials say the government has made "very targeted requirements" in their request for international aid. These include field hospitals, kitchens, surgical facilities, and power generators.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has deployed a small team to the Chilean capital of Santiago, and pledged further help.

Countries around the world are also sending aid to the quake-hit country.
