Special Report: 8.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Chile |
We begin in Chile where troops are patrolling the desolate streets of the country's second-biggest city. This comes as a curfew has been extended to stem increased looting and crimes in the wake of a devastating earthquake.
The Concepcion area near the epicenter of Saturday's quake has suffered severe damage, power is out and food and water are in short supply.
The city suffered waves of looting before thousands of troops arrived to enforce a night-time curfew that finally brought calm on Tuesday.
Nearly every store had been looted, some even set on fire.
