Pacific-wide tsunami warning cancelled

Pacific-wide tsunami warnings were cancelled on Sunday afternoon. They led to more than 50 nations lifting their own alerts following the massive 8.8 magnitude Chilean earthquake.

Sirens begin sounding alarms, beaches are cleared and road are closed. But officials say they have escaped unscathed. Experts explain why they issued a full Pacific-wide warning.

Dr. Gerard Fryer, Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, said, "Out on the open ocean this tsunami was 25 centimeters high and that is huge for the open ocean, so at that point we went to a full Pacific warning".
