Chile quake halts festival performances

South America's popular music festivals in Vina del Mar,nearly 600 kilometers from the earth quake's .

Organizers cancelled performances at the International Song Festival on its final night on Saturday. The quake also caused panic among night revellers at a disco on a beach front hotel.

Meanwhile, Chile's President Michelle Bachelet has visited the city of Constitucion which suffered extensive damage in the quake.

She toured the city in a fire truck stopping to speak to residents and rescue workers.
