Japan and the United States have agreed that the ongoing Toyota recall should not hinder bilateral relations. The automaker continued to pull back its Prius models around the world on Wednesday.

The US ambassador to Japan, John Roos, met the country's Transport Minister, Seiji Maehara, in Tokyo on Wednesday evening to smooth relations between the two sides over the recall.

He said both nations should continue to focus on securing people's safety. He added that he appreciates how Japan's Transport Ministry, as well as Toyota, have been on top of the issue.

The ambassador concluded that the pullback won't have any direct or indirect impact on the strength of the bilateral relationship between the two sides.
