And still in Sri Lankan, the president's office has announced that the nation's parliament has been dissolved.

A gazette notification to this effect was sent to the government printer on Tuesday, after President Mahinda Rajapaksa signed all relevant documents.

A general election to elect a new parliament is likely to take place in April.
