The UN Under-secretary-general for political affairs, Lynn Pascoe says he and DPRK officials will mainly discuss the ways to enhance cooperation between the UN and the DPRK. Topics on the list ranges from Pyongyang's nuclear program to humanitarian aid. Pascoe is the first high-level UN official to visit the country since 2004.

The UN Security Council adopted a resolution last year that allowed wider sanctions against the DPRK over its nuclear test. The DPRK has rejected the resolution and announced to quit the six-party nuclear talks.
