New homes ready for returned pandas

Two American-born giant pandas have arrived in their ancestral home of Sichuan in Southwest China. They will undergo a month of quarantine before going to their new home.

The two pandas will enjoy a spacious and comfortable environment there, and they will carry out a big mission, breeding the next generation of Pandas.

No.1 panda villa, the new home for Taishan and his future family.

After a month's quarantine, Taishan will move here and meet the public.

His new home is the most luxurious one in Bifeng Gorge Breeding Base, with spacious rooms and specially-designed gardens. It includes all of a panda's favorites things, like trees, lakes, and a wooden house.

Yang Chunxiang, vice director of Bifeng Gorge Breeding Base, said, "People care about Taishan's life after he returns. The open space here can let people see Taishan and know how he is dong. Living next door are many of his peers. Taishan can choose his future mate among them."

The breeding base is also the world's top panda raising facilities. Four-year-old Taishan is expected to get married here, and breed his babies.

Meilan left her parents in the US, but she will reunite with her big family here at Sichuan province.

Experts believe Meilan will soon feel at home in her new environment.
