Special Report: Strong Quake Hits Haiti |

Police officers in Southwest China's Yunnan Province are holding ceremonies to remember the Chinese peacekeepers killed in the Haiti quake. Three of the eight who perished previously worked in Yunnan.

Officers from the Border Defense Regiment of the Provincial Public Security have held memorial services at their headquarters building's auditorium. They honored their three fallen colleagues with a trio of bows, and one minute of silence. Border defense officers in Yunnan's Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture have expressed their sorrow in the distinctive tradition of the Dai ethnic minority group. Each held two lanterns in their hands, and lined up in the river to pray for the dead, before releasing the beacons into the water.
