Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has accused the US of involving Saudi Arabia, in Yemen's internal conflict in a bid to expand dominance in the region.

Washington has stepped up aid to Yemen to fight al-Qaida, which has built strongholds in remote parts of the nation where government control is weak. Saudi Arabia launched an air and ground offensive against Yemeni Shiite rebels on November 5th, after one of its soldiers was killed in a border clash.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, "The US has involved Saudi Arabia in the Yemen war. Why? There are two reasons: first, so that Saudi Arabia would take part in the conflict and be destroyed, paving the way for their dominance. The second reason is they wanted the weapons they sold to Saudi Arabia to be used against the people of the region, against Muslims."
