Israeli air strike kills 3 in Gaza

An Israeli air strike on Gaza has killed three Palestinian militants. The attack came on Sunday just hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a "powerful" response to attacks from the territory.

Palestinians say the three men were members of Islamic Jihad. They were killed in a field that's often used to launch rockets towards Israel.

The Israeli army confirms an aircraft carried out the strike on Gaza but gives no further details.

Israel says 20 mortar shells and rockets had been fired into its territory from the Hamas-ruled Gaza last week.

The Israeli government has vowed an "immediate and powerful response" to any such attacks.
