Special Report: Failed Christmas day attack |

President Barack Obama's advisor on homeland security and anti-terrorism, John Brennan, says the US has no plans to deploy troops to Yemen, or to open up new battle-lines against terrorists. Brennan made the comments during an interview with Fox TV on Sunday.

The US has already said it will provide training and facilities to the Yemeni security forces, and share intelligence to fight al-Qaida. US government officials have revealed that in the 2009 fiscal year, the Defense Department provided the Yemeni government with 67-million dollars worth of anti-terror assistance.

Yemen's al-Qaida affiliate claimed responsibility for the recent attempt to blow up a Northwest airlines flight to Detroit.
