Special Report: Failed Christmas day attack |

Bomb experts have destroyed a suspicious package found at Milan's Malpensa airport in Italy, but officials, say it contained no explosives.

Airport police say the abandoned parcel was found in a men's rest-room in the check-in area for charter flights, near to where US-bound passengers check in.

Police, say the package, about 20 by 10 centimeters in size, was covered in tape and attached to a triggering device and radio receiver.

Police are trying to determine its contents. Following the attempted attack on a Detroit-bound plane from Amsterdam on Friday, Italy has ordered airports to tighten security for passengers leaving for the US.
