Iranian state television has said that eight people were killed in clashes between anti-government protesters and security forces in Tehran on Sunday. Earlier police reports had put the death toll at five.
Addressing reporters following Sunday's clashes, Iran's deputy police chief, Ahmad Reza Radan, said one person died after falling from a bridge, two were killed in a car accident, and a fourth was fatally shot.
