The DPRK's state media has confirmed that its top leader Kim Jong Il received a personal letter from US President Barack Obama.
The letter was delivered during a US envoy's visit to Pyongyang earlier this month. The Korea Central News Agency reports that the letter was given to the DPRK's first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Kang Sok Ju.
Obama said in the letter that a liaison office could be established in the DPRK if Pyongyang ended its year-long boycott of the talks and returned to the Six-Party Talks.
