The Asia Research Center of the London School of Economics has held a public lecture on China's handling of greenhouse gases. There was praise for China's efforts in green house gas mitigation.
The lecture started with Chinese Ambassador Fu Ying sharing China's perspectives on climate change. In her speech "Climate Change and China", she introduced China's policies and measures in green house gas mitigation, energy saving and clean energy deployment.
She also explained the Chinese government's stand at the ongoing UN Climate Change Conference, and its pledge to reduce by 40 to 45 percent of the intensity of carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP by 2020 compared with the 2005 level. Many participants said they admire China's contribution in tackling climate change as a developing country.
