UN chief impressed by China's efforts on tackling climate change

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon says he appreciates China's effort and achievement to stopping climate change. Ban says during his visit to China, he saw the effort made by the Chinese government and enterprises to reduce greenhouse emissions.

He is very impressed by China's achievement in the fields of renewable and alternative energy. Ban is urging developed countries to address the issue of climate change by providing financial and technological support to developing countries, and to cut emissions by 25% to 40%.

The UN chief also says he is optimistic about the Copenhagen Conference and is looking forward to a strong document which could evolve into a legally binding protocol next year. Ban is scheduled to arrive in Danish capital for the ongoing summit on Monday.
