Ordinary Afghans say the award of the Nobel Peace prize to American president Barack Obama is undeserved.

Meanwhile, some 200 Afghans have staged an anti-war demonstration in Kabul Thursday, demanding war criminals be tried and for an end to the ongoing war in the country.

Abdul Ali, Kandahar Resident, said, "Obama does not deserve the Nobel Peace prize because he is sending more troops to Afghanistan to keep the war going and kill our sisters and mothers."

Ghulam Jan, Kandahar Resident, said, "President Obama is not the right person to be awarded the Nobel Peace prize. He has not done anything for peace so far. If he really wants to be popular for peace he should not send troops to Afghanistan."

Latifa Jan, Protester, said, "We want the end of the NATO and American operation in Afghanistan. We want a trial for those who have killed innocent Afghans in air strikes."
