One day ahead of the Copenhagen climate conference, Vice Minister of China's National Development and Reform Commission, Xie Zhenhua, arrived in the Danish capital.

He said the Chinese government attaches great importance to the summit, and that China will contribute substantially to the talks. Xie said that as a developing country, China has made progress in fighting against climate change. He said China's commitment to reduce the intensity of carbon dioxide emissions by 2020 shows the country's sense of responsibility.

Xie Zhenhua emphasized that China is on the road to development. But China's carbon emissions will not increase without control.
