The Shanghai World Expo will start initial trial operations in April next year. Consuls General from more than 60 countries gathered to make the announcement.
Meanwhile, Canada's Prime Minister attended the unveiling of his country's pavilion on Saturday.
After inspecting the Pavilion, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper placed the Pavilion's nameplate and unfurled the national flag. Once the interior design and decoration is complete, the Canadian pavilion will be ready for a test-run in March.
Nearby, the Norwegian pavilion finished its roof construction. Its white roof symbolizes Norway's varied landscapes, the icebergs, snow and sea.
The Shanghai World Expo will also feature a pavilion for the disabled. It's called the Life Sunshine pavilion. The site is divided into four parts including one on the future for the disabled in cities and their aspirations for a better life.
So far, construction work on the Expo land has gone well. The China pavilion is now complete and other major pavilions are close to completion. The Expo axis will also be finished by the end of December.
From April next year, the World Expo will hold three trial operations. Officials predict that the Shanghai World Expo will attract one-hundred million visitors per day from all over the world.
