Earlier, our reporter Liu Ying spoke to Mr. Khalid Malik, Resident Representative of the UN Development Program in China. He hopes the Central Economic Work Conference will propose more policies in support of China's economic recovery.

Malik is concerned about the Central Economic Work Conference. He is praising the stimulus policies China has adopted in reviving its economy.

Khalid Malik, UNDP Research Rep. in China, said, "The conference is very important. There's a lot of expectations of China. At the same time, China has done tremendously well with the stimulus program meeting the targets this year. We are also pleased of meeting this target in a green way because 30 percent of the stimulus package is towards environmental protection issues."

The Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee says the country will maintain stimulus policies next year. Malik believes this is a responsible choice by China.

Khalid Malik, UNDP Research Rep. in China, said, "It's good to have that perspective. We are thankful for China taking such a responsible position. I think what China has done has helped other countries also recover. I think the situation now, is that other countries such as India and Brazil are increasingly doing better. So in some way the developing world is helping the world itself to recover. One third of the world's output is coming from developing countries, so it's not an insignificant size."

The Central Economic Work Conference aims to set the tone for next year's macro economic control. How to fine tune China's economic policies while continuing the stimulus package is considered a major focus of the conference.
