China calls for further AIDS prevention work

Chinese President Hu Jintao and Vice Premier Li Keqiang have attended an activity with the theme of AIDS prevention and voluntary work ahead of the World AIDS DAY.

The president is calling for spreading AIDS prevention knowledge to the public and helping each AIDS patient.

President Hu Jintao and other leaders first went to an exhibition on the progress of AIDS prevention across the country and in Beijing. He spoke highly of the capital's 50 thousand volunteers' work to conquer the disease.

He said their voluntary work has been significant in ensuring people's health and the nation's prosperity.

At the end of the activity, the president and volunteers sang a song together to call for more love and concern for both AIDS patients and HIV carriers.
