China's climate change negotiator, says instead of reaching new agreements ahead of the upcoming international climate summit, all the countries should concentrate on implementing their previous responsibilities, as ruled by the UN Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol.

Chinese Envoy on Climate Change Negotiation, said, "Our expectation and demand for the Copenhagen conference is very simple, all countries involved should carry out what they have to do and what they promised to do."

Yu, says participants should work toward three goals during the Copenhagen conference. Developed countries should shoulder a large portion of emission decreases, and ensure that other developed countries who haven't approved the Kyoto Protocol commit to a comparable decrease. Yu is stressing the importance of an efficient mechanism to ensure developed countries' promise of help to developing countries, including financial support and technology transfer. He also points out developing countries would be able to adopt stronger measures to reduce emissions after receiving aid.
