CCTV's International English Channel has won a prize at the Hot Bird TV awards, the first time a Chinese TV channel has achieved such an honor.
More than 150 TV channels from over 20 countries gathered in Italy's city on water - Venice, for Friday's ceremony.
CCTV9 won the Eutelsat Special Award, for its innovation in program production and arrangement, as well as its introduction and promotion of China to the world.
Organizers of the event praised the channel's role as a "window on China."
The annual awards were first established in 1998, and feature 12 categories covering news, music and documentaries.
