Atlantis is scheduled to blast off at 2:28 p.m. local time in Cape Cana-veral with tons of spare parts for the International Space Station.

NASA's countdown is going smoothly and even the weather is looking exceptionally good for the launch.

NASA wants to deliver as many supplies as possible to the space station before it retires its shuttle fleet next year.Efforts are being made to ensure the station will run for at least five to 10 years after that.
