Premier Wen Jiabao vows action on climate change

Premier Wen Jiabao says China is committed to fully tackling climate change and pledges to contribute to international cooperation in this regard.

He made the remarks while meeting with the foreign representatives who attended the annual conference of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development.

The Premier says the Chinese government has never relaxed its requirements for energy conservation, emissions reduction and environmental protection, while tackling the global financial crisis.

Wen said China will integrate actions on climate change and emission cuts into its economic and social development plan. And it will take legal, economic and technological measures to fully advance its work in fighting climate change.

He also said China will participate actively in the upcoming UN climate change conference in Copenhagen and make contributions to international cooperation on the climate change issue.
