Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |

The World Health Organisation has begun investigating an outbreak of deadly flu in the Ukraine as the country reports more deaths as the epidemic spreads. The Ukrainian Health Ministry is unsure whether people died from a common seasonal flu or from A/H1N1. Meanwhile, the Romanian authorities are making attempts to combat A/H1N1 flu.

Ukraine's Health Ministry says the flu epidemic spread to two more regions in the country. 255,000 cases of the virus, including acute respiratory problems which have been registered among the country's 46 million population. 15,000 people have been hospitalized.

Yulia Tymoshenko, Ukrainian Prime Minister, said, "71 people died since the beginning of the epidemic. We spent 50 million Hryvnia on necessary equipment. We have done everything possible to get medical supplies at the expense of the state."

The World Health Organization says there was no evidence Ukraine had an outbreak of A/H1N1 flu. But at the government's request it sent a medical team to help the country cope with the problem.
