Afghan leader Karzai vows to build inclusive government

Re-elected Afghan president Hamid Karzai has vowed to build a new government representing all sectors of the Afghan society. During the first news conference one day after the confirmation of his election victory, he also reached out his opponents and Talibans who are ready to work for the good of the country.

Chinese president Hu Jintao has congratulated Hamid Karzai on his election victory. He says China respects Afghanistan's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and supports the Afghan people's efforts to realize peace and development in their country. He says China hopes to strengthen the China-Afghan comprehensive partnership under Karzai's new term and believes Afghanistan will achieve more in building a peaceful and prosperous country. (OUT)

The cancellation of the run-off elections has secured Karzai's second term as head of the country. Karzai thanked Afghan people for their determination to usher in bright future for the country. And he vowed that his government will represent national unity and solitarily.
