China and Russia have marked the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Meanwhile, the closing ceremony of the Russian Language Year in China was also held on Tuesday.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin attended the ceremony.
The evening ceremony was held in Beijing's Great Hall Of the People.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao delivered a speech. He said after a 60-year-progress, ties between the two countries are stepping into the next level.
Wen Jiabao, Chinese Premier, said, "Under the joint efforts of the two countries, fruitful achievements have been seen in the fields of mutual political trust, strategic coordination and practical cooperation. The two nations completely resolved the border issue left over from history. The signing of the Treaty of Good Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation laid a solid legal foundation for bilateral relations. The two sides have formed more than 30 bilateral cooperation and exchange systems. And bilateral trade volume have increased 7 fold."
Premier Wen also stressed that the two members of the UN Security Council should promote the founding of a new international order and contribute more to world peace and development.
