President Hu Jintao has inspected the security, traffic and tourism situation in Beijing, with the capital welcoming a large number of tourists from across the country. He extended festive greetings to those still working during the National Day Holiday.

Security is always one of the top tasks for Beijing during the annual National Day Holiday. President Hu Jintao first visited a police station, responsible for the security around Tiananmen Square. He praised their work, after listening to reports on security work during the week-long holidays.

Hu said, "I hope all of you will do better in your jobs, upgrade your skills to serve the people, improve equipment and contribute more to the stability of Tiananmen Square and the capital as well. "

Hu Jintao then went to subway Line 4, which started operation just before National Day Holiday. He spoke to staff, and asked about the influx of daily passenger and security checkups. He was pleased to learn the length of the subway will reach 560 kilometers in the city in 2015, and will see more than ten million trips every day.

Hu Jintao notes public transport is of great importance. A fast, convenient and safe public transportation system can attract more people, which is the ultimate solution to traffic congestion in Beijing.

Hu Jintao took the subway and reached his next destination, the Summer Palace, one of Beijing's most popular resorts. The park has seen 400 thousand visitors the past six days. Hu Jintao thanked staff for working extra shifts. His inspection trip ended in chats with tourists in the park.
