Special Report: Premier Wen Visits DPRK |
Premier Wen Jiabao is continuing his three-day visit in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
On Monday, he visited the cemetery of martyrs for the Chinese People's Volunteers. He then met with DPRK leaders. Both sides agreed to further promote their traditional friedship.
A solemn moment as the Chinese Premier entered the cemetary where 134 Chinese martyrs are buried. They were volunteers who fought in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea over half a century ago.
Tens of thousands of Chinese volunteer soldiers died in the war, including Mao Anying, son of the late Chinese leader Mao Zedong.
Standing in front of the tombs of the martyrs, Wen Jiabao sent respects from home.
Wen Jiabao, Chinese Premier, said, "I spent four hours to come to see you. I bring you the remembrance of the Chinese people You left your blood here. Your great spirit will last long for the world. The people will never forget you. You will live in our heart forever. Your spirit will always encourage us to build a better country."
Premier Wen Jiabao also met with the DPRK's top legislator, Kim Yong Nam. Wen Jiabao said both countries should carry on their traditional friendship into the future, and work to promote common development and maintain regional and world peace.
