China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea agreed on Sunday to promote bilateral cooperation. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is visiting the DPRK to further enhance the friendship between the two countries. Both sides also expressed their hope to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula through dialogue.

It's the first time a Chinese Premier has visited the DPRK in 18 years. Wen Jiabao's visit comes at a time when the two countries are celebrating 60 years of diplomatic ties.

He was greeted at the airport by top DPRK leader, Kim Jong-Il, and over a hundred-thousand people on Pyongyang street.

After his arrival, Wen Jiabao headed to the Kumsusan Memorial Palace where he paid tribute to the late DPRK President, Kim Il-Sung.

The Chinese Premier then held talks with his DPRK counterpart, Kim Yong-Il. Wen Jiabao reviewed sixty years of friendship between the two neighboring countries, and urged further cooperation to help promote regional stability and development. He said China is willing to expand exchanges with the DPRK in all fields and levels, and beef up coordination on major issues.
