One of the main contenders in Afghanistan's presidential election has given his support, to help speed up the long-delayed election results.
Hamid Karzai's rival, Abdullah Abdullah, told a gathering of hundreds of his supporters Sunday that he was satisfied with the decision to count a sample one in ten, suspect ballot boxes.
The election, which was held five weeks ago, has been mired in allegations of widespread fraud.
Ballot boxes from more than 3000 polling stations have been quarantined by the UN-backed Electoral Complaints Commission. Preliminary results show President Hamid Karzai winning an outright 54.6 percent.
