Finland is inviting leaders of the Baltic states to attend a Baltic Sea Action Summit in Helsinki next year. The meeting's goal is to improve the conditions of the body of water.

Reports claim about 400 people with political, economic and academic influence will attend the February meeting.

The Finnish government launched the Baltic Sea Action Project in May, calling for practical action to fight the sea's environmental degradation caused by an excess of chemical nutrients and sharp growth in marine transport.
